HS2 across the Chilterns - 3rd Update (Online Presentation and Discussion)

Following on from the successful event in July, we are pleased to invite you to the third in a series of updates, showing the impact as construction of HS2 continues across the Chilterns.

Much has happened since the last update in July. The tunnel boring machines are well into what will be the ten mile long Chiltern Tunnel and will have reached the first ventilation shaft at Chalfont St Peter. Work is also under way on construction of the north tunnel portal at South Heath as well as a temporary haul road which will remove construction traffic from the local roads. There will be a full update on progress both here and at the vent shafts across the Chilterns.

Using a mixture of maps, pictures, visualisations and, most importantly, aerial photographs this talk will show the impact at a number of locations across the Colne Valley Regional Park as well as the Chilterns.

The talk will last for about 60 minutes with plenty of time for questions and discussion. Call-in details will follow nearer the time.

Keith Hoffmeister has been photographing the route ever since the plans were first revealed in 2010. He covered the whole route from Euston to Birmingham and published a DVD in 2012 as part of the Stop HS2 campaign. He was also instrumental in establishing the HS2 Photo Diary which was recently launched on the Society’s website.

There will be an opportunity for questions at the end of the presentation which Keith will be more than happy to answer – please can you make sure that you keep the questions brief so that everyone has an opportunity to get involved.
