I was passed on your email address by our environment team. This week, we’ve opened up a conversation across England and Wales on what the water sector should look like by 2040. As we embark on the design of future price reviews, we’re asking some open questions about the long term goals to meet the needs of customers, the environment and wider society. We would greatly value your input on these.
Our 2024 price review (PR24) launch document, ‘Future challenges and opportunities for the water sector’, sets out the challenges and opportunities that we see for the sector over the next 20 years that will help shape PR24 and beyond. We set out twelve key questions for the sector that we think – based on the future challenges and our experience of previous price reviews – it would be useful for Ofwat, companies and stakeholders to answer. These touch on topics such as climate change mitigation and adaption, leakage reduction, water efficiency and public value.
The opening of the Future Ideas Lab kicks off the 2024 price review. We welcome all contributions, sent to PR24@ofwat.gov.uk, on how we could evolve the price review to address the challenges we have set out.
Alongside this launch, we also want to make you aware of:
· A discussion paper on reflecting customer preferences in future price reviews, where we invite written responses to be sent to PR24@ofwat.gov.uk by 29 January 2021
· A discussion paper on public value, due to be published shortly, which will set out a brief update on Ofwat’s latest thinking on public value
· Our reflections on lessons learnt from PR19, where we are publishing an exploration of what we have heard and our own reflections on lessons we have learnt from PR19 to date.
· A PR14 – call for input, published on 5 December 2020. We are seeking your input into our evaluation of the impact PR14 has had on the water sector to inform our design of PR24. Please send your response to this call for input to PR14review@ofwat.gov.uk by 8 January 2021.
If you’d like to contact us about any of the above or any other aspect of PR24, please use PR24@ofwat.gov.uk.
